SOCOTRA PLANET ORGANIZATION
A NONGOVERNMENTAL, NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION
ESTABLISHED IN 2022.
Dedicated to the human and natural heritage of Socotra. The natural heritage of Socotra is embodied in its rare plants cover and inhabitants, where nearly a third of the island's living organisms are found nowhere else in the world. Its human heritage includes the Socotri language, customs, traditions, literature, and art that have thrived for thousands of years due to the island's isolation from the mainland.

VISION
Preserving Socotra's human and natural heritage from extinction due to natural and human risks, including climate change, pollution, and the extinction of literature, art, and intangible heritage as time progresses and population increases.

MISSION
Sending a message to the world to give the required attention to Socotra, both the land and people, and to preserve its natural and human heritage. This attention can be caught by the production of artistic works that document this heritage as part of conservation efforts.

OBJECTIVES
- Documenting Socotra's human and natural heritage in audiovisual artworks as a primary reference before this heritage disappears.
- Directing the world's attention towards Socotra's human and natural heritage to encourage genuine efforts for its preservation and highlighting the island's beauty as one of the most stunning locations on Earth.
- Mobilizing popular and international advocacy to treat Socotra as a natural reserve, preserving its biological diversity and rich human heritage.
- Training the youth in Socotra to create visual and audio content by leveraging the island's natural and human heritage, creating employment opportunities with tourism companies, production companies, and news agencies.
- Contributing to solving Socotra's major issues, including environmental pollution, climate change impact, and the disappearance of human heritage and legacy.
- Collaborating with governmental and non-governmental efforts to unify preservation initiatives for the Socotri language, one of the oldest Semitic languages, and documenting Socotri oral literature from the elders.
