A herd of goats, which are ubiquitous across Soqotra, significantly impact the sustainability of the Archipelago’s vegetation and soil ecosystems. While local communities maintain a strong cultural and economic connection to goats, the high numbers of goats and other livestock pose a serious threat due to overgrazing, not only of the Dragon’s Blood Trees, but also for many other plants.
